Public tender: Technical Consultant (Security Sector Transformation, Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration), Juba, South Sudan

BICC is an independent peace and conflict research institute based in Bonn, Germany.
For our project on Security Sector Transformation and DDR in South Sudan, which is funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (GFFO), we will contract a consultant to provide technical and policy advice to national and international stakeholders in Juba working on security sector transformation, demobilization and reintegration in South Sudan (on strategic, tactical level).

Minimum requirements include:

Technical expertise
· Advanced university degree in Social Sciences or related fields, preferably with a
focus on peace and conflict studies, security studies or development
cooperation;
· In-depth knowledge of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration (DDR)
and security sector reform (SSR) concepts and practices;

Relevant work experience
· Relevant work experience (min. seven years) related to the aforementioned
topics, e.g. in international organizations, in research, or as a consultant,
· Relevant work experience related to the aforementioned topics in a field context
(work experience in South Sudan is a great asset);
· Demonstrated experience in institutional capacity building (desirable);

Other skills and requirements
· Proven project management expertise; excellent organizational skills;
· Ability to work in a team; cultural and context sensitivity;
· Excellent presentation, communication and writing skills;
· Language skills including excellent spoken and written English;
· Fitness for service in tropical countries.
