Gatsby Africa has established an ambitious Kenya Commercial Forestry Programme (KCFP) based in Nairobi and now needs to fill two final pivotal posts. These are challenging and rewarding positions, with the opportunity to develop new thinking and make a real impact. We would particularly welcome Kenyan candidates. Programme Director (prior understanding of forestry is not essential for this role)
The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15 years’ substantive work experience at senior level in private sector consultancy, development consultancy or development project management organisation. A strong track record of successfully leading and managing projects with multiple stakeholders and multi-layered teams, defining strategy and executing effectively, commercial acumen, and sector development experience. Proven experience of influencing senior-level public and private sector decision-makers. An understanding of business investment decisions and deal-structuring. Experience in implementing market-based solutions within large-scale sector development programmes; and/or experience of managing interventions to enhance the competitiveness of agricultural sectors. Forestry Technical Director
The ideal candidate will have higher degrees in forestry, strong commercial forestry experience with a combination of technical and operational responsibilities in organisations across the forestry value chain, and at least 10 years of varied management responsibility. Proven leadership of collaborative, multi-partner initiatives, and demonstrated experience of influencing senior public and private sector decision-makers will be essential.
