The British Red Cross (BRC) have an exciting new opportunity for a Sanitation Engineer Faecal Sludge Management (FSM) to join our team based in Cox’s Bazaar, Bangladesh.

This role will work under the direct supervision of the BRC Programme Manager and alongside the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) and International Federation of Red Cross Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) staff to deliver an appropriate FSM intervention that meets the needs of the affected population in Cox’s Bazar.

The Sanitation Engineer FSM is expected to ensure that the plan and budget for the response is coordinated with BDRCS, Red Cross partners and other agencies supporting the WASH activities whilst responding to local needs and contextual changes.

The Sanitation Engineer FSM will improve the whole sanitation chain including the desludging and faecal sludge treatment in order to ensure the quality of all interlinked FSM activities.

To be successful in this role you must have experience in:

designing and implementing FSM treatment units, waste water treatments, including desludging operations working in international humanitarian operations in the water, sanitation, hygiene and/or health sectors demonstrating capacity to (engage effectively with local partners) with ability to provide formal and informal training delivering programmes in a complex working environment solid understanding of the international humanitarian sector with a focus on integrated programming, participatory planning, and local institution capacity building financial management and budgeting capacity building and organisational development of partner organisations
